French movies on Netflix

The best french films on Netflix in 2025

By now, you probably know there is only a small catalogue of French movies streaming on Netflix — usually somewhere between 60 and 100 titles. And since it’s not always easy to find out if Netflix has added any new French films, FrenchFlicks maintains an updated list of every French film on Netflix here, complete with trailers, synopsis, cast information, and ratings. Good news, this list is updated weekly. so be sure to bookmark it to stay informed about the latest additions!

If the number of French movies on Netflix has been going down recently, the number of French TV shows on Netflix with English subtitles is growing, thanks to Netflix originals like the critically acclaimed Lupin and Standing Up and the (not-so-great) TV series Marseille with French actor Gérard Depardieu.

And if you’re not looking for a full listing but rather the best of French cinema on Netflix, la crème de la crème (and who isn’t?)—here is our updated top 10 best French movies on Netflix.

French movies on Amazon Prime

Does Amazon Prime Have French movies? Yes, plenty! However Amazon Prime Video doesn’t make it particularly easy to find French films on its platform. The best way to discover a French romance or thriller is to type “French movies” into the Prime Video search bar. Just make sure the filter “included with Prime” is selected. One thing to note, though, is that some films on Amazon Prime are categorized under “French movies” but aren’t actually French—they may simply feature French actors or actresses.

You might be surprised by how many French movies are available on Amazon Prime—some excellent, and some (a lot) not so great. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the 15 best French films on Amazon Prime to stream in 2025. Among them are My King (Mon roi) starring the French actor Vincent Cassel, Priceless (Hors de prix) with Audrey Tautou, and Jean-Pierre Melville’s classic thriller Le Samouraï featuring Alain Delon. Amazon Prime is also the place to catch Ladj Ly’s César winning drama Les Misérables.

But not all films are included with Amazon Prime, though. For more recent French films, there’s the option to rent or buy. Rental prices usually range from $1 to $5, while purchases typically cost between $6 and $15. Among these, we highly recommend The Innocents, The Apparition, Diane Has the Right Shape (Diane a les épaules), Memoir of War (La douleur), A breath Away (Dans la brume), The Intouchables (Intouchables), Summertime, Heartbreaker (L’arnacœur), La vie en rose (La môme), Welcome to the Sticks (Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis), and The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob (Les aventures de Rabbi Jacob).
